Old Sturbridge Village
The vessel measures 7 " tall, 7 1/2" from the handle to the other side, the opening is about 3 3/4" It's a nice, heavy piece, great for fall dried flower displays or for serving up cider! An 18th century potter's shop was moved to Sturbridge in 1961. This piece is undoubtedly a replica of the type of vessel that would have been used in an early New England household.
The outside glaze on redware such as this piece often had manganese added for brown and copper oxides for green. In excellent vintage condition.
